Join our journey from Cape Town to Rio.
The Cape2Rio is the longest continent-to-continent yacht race in the southern hemisphere – 5,800 kilometres across the Atlantic Ocean.
Our mission is to join one of the most iconic yacht races in the world, whilst raising awareness and sponsorship for children with cerebral palsy, by sharing Dave’s inspiring story of perseverance and achievement.
Join our journey.
In 1996 Cape2Rio Dave Elcock was the skipper of the largest South African yacht in the Cape2Rio race. 30 years on Dave has decided it’s time to embark on the iconic journey once again.
We’re racing for a reason
Beyond sailing, Dave is committed to making a difference. Dave was born with cerebral palsy and has led an exceptional life despite the challenges he has had to face. Through his participation in the Cape to Rio 2025, Dave aims to raise awareness and sponsorship funds for children with cerebral palsy, by sharing his inspiring story of perseverance and achievement. The proceeds will benefit Vista Nova School.

“Vista Nova School strives to maximize the unique potential of learners with barriers to learning and other special needs by the provision of appropriate educational and therapeutic services.”
